I have kept tropical fish for seven years. I completely agree with Venice Girl and Ghost Shrimp fan. You need to return your fish for a different species or purchase a much larger aquarium.
if they are in sunlight that could cause it if that is not it your mom is right then
mite be too many fish or is the water getting sunlight could be that w/goldfish you can change the water pretty frequently get a cheapo ph testing kit and see what that is too
Its a Bacteria Bloom you didn't cycle your tank and your bacteria is trying to reproduce like crazy to cope with all the ammonia, some fish will die.
Read this http://www.firsttankguide.net/cycle.php...
IT IS TO SMALL they need a 55g for 3 goldfish, they are pond fish don't deny it. Goldfish grow 12" and if you stunt there growth they will die.
It is probably from too much food. I realize they are goldfish, and are seen in many situations in unfiltered water, but if you would like to give these three little fishies a better place to live, then get a small tank, (5 gal), a filter, (the priciest is not always the best), a chemical you can get that neutralizes the chlorine in city tap water, and a medication that can be used to treat "ich". It's common in fish tanks, and I use it prophylactically
In truth yes, your tank is to small you should have at least one gallon of water for every fish that you have. Not that said.change the water in your tank.Than by some clear to put in it.This will help with the fog. Also only feed your fish your fish once in the morning and once at night and only put a small pinch of food in the tank at a time. And so that you know. You should also have a good filter on your tank.
The reason its cloudy is because there is a bacteria bloom, I could put money on that these fish will die between 1-2 months, Because goldfish are messy and require alot or water (10gal just now and more as they get bigger, Theres no way you can keep 3 goldfish in a 1 gal bowl. Your'e going to stunt them meening.. there organs will grow but the body will not... In other words its animal abuse.

Fresh water almost always does that. You can give it a day or two...maybe even 3 days to clear ot go get some "Bright and Clear" and add some to the water. It will clear it right up.
If you didn't dechlorinate the water your fish will die for sure.
You may not like it but your tank IS too small. The rule is ONE inch of fish per ONE GALLON of water.
Sorry, but your tank IS too small. However, the cloudy water is actually a good thing. It's a bacterial bloom and you need the bacteria. The start right probably caused it. The start right has seed bacteria in it to get the bacteria started growing. You are seeing it working. If you have a good filter it will clear up the water shortly. The bacteria has just had a major growth spurt and it will take time for it to settle onto all the available surfaces and your tank to adjust to the load of fish in the tank and the waste they produce. Just because you don't see the waste (you say your fish don't poo too much, but you can't see the pee!) doesn't mean it isn't there. Just relax and give your filter some time to do its work. You need to do some research on the needs of goldfish and how the nitrogen cycle works in an aquarium. I suggest you click on the links I've provided below and read up. Good luck with your fish. Please get them a bigger home!
You don't want us to tell you that your tank isn't too small, but it is too small. If you don't want to hear these things, then don't ask the question. And goldfish do poo too much. They poo more than any other fish and, as a result, cause huge amounts of waste which results in high ammonia levels and a toxic environment if you don't provide enough water and filtration to adequate handle the load. Putting an additive in the water is not enough to create a healthy environment. The cloudiness is beneficial bacteria that is trying to grow that makes your tank healthy. Your water is trying to cycle, but it never will in a tank that tiny. You absolutely cannot keep 3 goldfish in a 1 gallon tank. One goldfish alone requires a minimum of 10 gallons and you can choose to ignore what we're telling you, but that will only result in the death of your fish. If you insist on keeping 3 goldfish in a 1 gallon tank, you are going to need to change your water twice a day just to keep it healthy enough. And then there is the stunting factor which will, without question, result in keeping 3 goldfish in such a tiny environment. Goldfish should live 15-40 years if cared for properly. Listen or don't. If you listen and provide your goldfish with adequate space and filtration, they may live. Otherwise, they are going to die.
Hi White Feather, you can bury your head in the sand %26 pretend things are ok but you have some living creatures here so please swallow your pride %26 do the right thing for them. Your tank is way too small for one baby Goldfish let alone three. I'm sorry to tell you but if you keep them in there for any length of time they will all die of toxic poisoning.
The link that Inert posted is excellent, you will find everything you need to know about keeping Goldfish properly on there. The golden rule is buy a tank as big as your finances or space in your home will allow. If you are not prepared to get them at least a 20 gallon, lidded, filtered tank in the next day or so I strongly recommend you take them back to the store for a refund or it will all end in tears.
Although it may seem like it, this is not a conspiracy against you, check out any Goldfish keeping forum or site on the internet or any Goldfish book in the library %26 you will find the same advice. The only people who tell you different are the pet store employees who simply want your money.
Everyone is right... the only fish you could sort of keep in that small of a tank is a betta maybe, even then they need more room. Goldfish do produce a lot of waste even though you can't see all of it and it is unfair to have 3 in such a small tank. People have yelled at me for having my small goldfish in only a 5 gallon (with plans to upgrade), you really need a bigger tank
