Get Algae wafers at a petsmart or a local fish store they love those.
Move your tank outdoor or near the window. Algae would grow in no time at all and your eater will have lots of yummy to chew. In the mean time, just throw in fish food for the blighter!
If your algae eater isn't eating algae, it might be possible it really isn't an algae eater. Do you know if it is Chinese or Siamese. The Chinese variety doesn't really eat algae.
