Problem with my fish tank!!!!?

i have this 10 gallon tank and now all of a sudden i start to see a bunch of snails that came out of nowhere, yesterday i took about 15 out and today i took about 7 out and theres still more ugh its so frustrating. i know why they are there, because i bought aquarium plants for it (the plants a are real, i bought them at petsmart) but anyway, if you can tell me how to get them the hell oiut with out kill my fish that would be great. thanks a lot.
Answers:
just go ask the people at petsmart. they would know before anyone on here would
if theres anny snail repellent use that.
well for starters get rid of the plants i got some plants from pets mart too but i cleaned them before i put them into my tank and no snails. take out the fish and put them into a seprate place wash out the tank rocks and all set it up only this time wash the plants before puting them into the tank and make sure all snail are removed. it should work. good luck and make sure to wash the plants. i would know my bro works as a fish tech.
You can buy medication or a small loach like a skunk loach. On another snail question I showed this link about snails. Try it out and see if it works. http://www.usc.edu/cssf/current/projects...
Pet-smart is the worst for snails on the live plants... I just cleaned out my 50 gal tank and had over 100 lil pests in there sure my tank walls were clean but they were beginning to clog up my filters and everything... what I do is just clean my tank regularly and pick them out weeding them out helps but there is no real way i' ve found yet to get rid of them... I've heard a penny in the tank will sterilize them but I'm scared to try it cause i breed fish in my tank also.
hello i had the same problems when i bought my plants. i bought a chemical snail remover but it killed quite a lot of my fish so i wouldn't recommend it. i got a loach which ate most of it but it got too big that they started attacking my smaller fish. and so what i did was i did a general cleaning. I cleaned my gravel, decorations and plants really well made sure no eggs or snail are left. then i added hot water for about 30 mins then added potassium permengenate which i bought from the chemist. Then you would see snails float (dead ones) float. Oh and you would see slimy things which are the eggs of the snails. Take them out too. i cleaned my aquarium with a bit of bleach and water. don't forget the hood and the filter they could have snail eggs too. well hope it helped.
if you want to try pennies make sure they are old pennies as most modern pennies are mostly zinc these days.
as this is a common problem most pet shops carry a few products that are designed to kill snails without harming fish. HOWEVER if you have a lot of snails remember to do a water change after treating as all the dead snails rotting in your tank could cause problems with ammonia or nitrites
Snails are hard to get rid of when they are there. They reproduce like crazy. And one snail alone can lay eggs and fertalize them. Snails usually lay eggs on plants, when you buy plants there is a rish of getting snails. There are few fish which eat these, but they may be too big for your tank. All I can think of is get a piece of lettuce, run it under hot water, tie a cotton ball to it and let it sink. Next morning you will see the snails on the lettuce, toss it out and do this until they are all gone. Snails can hide under your gravel so you never know how many you got. They also sell chemicals to get rid of em, I don't agree with chemicals though. Best way is to get a preditor or do the lettuce trick. You may not get rid of em all but you may keep em under control.
yea get rid of the plants
Here is a great site on how to get rid of them, I actually like the vegetable bait one the best

There was actually just a similar question here about 4 days ago and somebody recommended that actually
So just try it

Hope that helps
good luck

It is almost impossible to get rid of mystery snails. There are chemicals that will kill them. If you only have a ten gallon tank the best way my be to do a complete water change. Clean the tank and gravel thoroughly. The snails will lay egg clutches usually on the glass, so be sure it is clean before refilling. The plants are most likely the source of the problem. Examine the plants for snails and egg clutches if you plan to keep the plants.
You can try get a new tank put new gravel and fake plants with a clean snail-free filter and place all your fish in there.
And your snail infested tank with GSP Green Spotted Puffer Fish.
This is just an option its your choice.
Using lettuce is the best way, just put the lettuce in clean container that has not had soap in it with holes big for the snails to get in but not your fish in the morning quite a few snails should be on it so just empty them out and reset it, you can do this for several day until you notice less snails. This method probably won't total wipe them out but will get rid of alot of them and control their numbers,I would try it before putting any chemicals in your tank to kill them.
