I'd find out how the moor died before you get another goldfish. Goldfish in good water rarely get sick and die. You may not be doing something right. My guess is over crowding. If you had 2 fish in a fish bowl then they both are doomed. You should have them in at least a 20 gallon tank. Smallest sized fish tank for one goldfish would be a 10 gallon and that's only if the goldfish is a baby. If what killed the moor is contageous then you could infect the new fish and hence be wasting your money. Make sure the oranda stays healthy for a month before you purchase another fish. Quarintine new fish for at least 3 weeks or you could introduce something else that could make the first fish sick.
A GOLDFISH
Mostly any type of fish that is non aggressive and lives in the same environment, but i would just get another goldfish~they are cute
dojo loach or also know as the weather loach
Well, I agree with Sunday. Before getting any fish, you need to do a thorough test of your water and give a good visual once, or twice-over of your oranda for external health as well as behavior. And, if you had these two fish in too small a tank, that could be the reason for the one's demise. But, once you feel assured that you have a healthy tank and fish, there are a few rules about putting goldfish together. First, goldfish shouldn't be put with tropicals, except for a small handful of bottom feeders, which, because many of them get large, I wouldn't suggest adding if you have a tank smaller than, say, 60 gallons. Next, you shouldn't put slim-bodied goldfish with fancies because the slim-bodies can move faster and will get all the food. So, fancies should be kept with fancies, but it goes even further than that. Fancies with specialized eyes, i.e., bubble eyes, telescope eyes, or celestial eyes, shouldn't be kept with orandas, veiltails, fantails, ryukins, etc. because they can't see as well and, again, won't get enough food. So, I would suggest that when you feel your tank is ready for another fish, choose an oranda, veiltail, fantail, ryukin, ranchu, lionhead or eggfish. Goldies rule!
Another type of goldfish. Tropical fish don't do well in the lower water temps of a goldfish and goldfish do not do well in warmer waters needed by tropical fish. Test the tank, and go pick out another type of goldfish you like.
Those 2 go together like peanut butter %26 jelly.
Get another Oranda, Black Moor, Veiltail, Fantail, or Ryunkin.
Try to avoid Shebunkin, Koi, or the smaller feeder fish as they would love to try to nibble on the Oranda.
