Opinion on well water?

I've been using purified water thus far for my fishtank (55 gallon freshwater) and I've been doing well on that, but I've been thinking about switching off and saving some money and using the well water.
I don't know what the hardness of the well water is, but it is clean by way of nitrates and ammonia and it goes through a good number of filters and a uv light (some faucets go through the uv, some dont, actually).
Are there any tips or opinions i can use?
Answers:
well water will work much better atually b/c its natural,we've used well water in all our tanks and i own 5 175gallon tanks will all different types of fish. The well water provides natural minerals for the fish and in turn is better for them.
I use well water all the time. It should be fine.
dont use purified water! use the pump water then buy the fish purifier to put in ur tank and the fish will be much happier
well water is fine for fish, it can be cloudy, depending on the mineral content in the water. you can buy a water clarifyer at any fish shop. I use a 5 gallon water can.. sold at watmart for about $10. and treat the water first. then filter out and sediment in the bottom. let it stand 48 hrs before filtering
I would say that would depend on the types of rock that make up the aquifer the well is in. If it's limestone, that would be fine, although I'd add the new water slowly, as it will probably have a higher pH than the water you're currently using. It may also permanently etch the glass on the tank, making it appear cloudy if the pH is above 8. If it's in sandstone, and you live in a coal region, the pH may be too low from iron pyrite dissolving in the water and creating sulphuric acid.
If you well water is used for drinking, at some point it will have been tested for mineral content, pH, and the like. I'd see if you can get ahold of previous tests (or have a new one done) before using it.
See this article about using well water for aquaria:

It sounds fine. Put some dechorinator ini it just in case. It could also be cloudy, so buy something that clears up cloudy water.
