Need a FAST answer!?

I need to sterilize a homemade siphon for my goldfish tank...can i use bleach if i rinse it well or is there something else?
Answers:
A 10% Cchlorine bleach solution is fine if you rinse it in a container of water which has been treated with a healthy dose of dechlorinator and allow the item to air dry afterwards.
The container should be soap-free. The bleach must contain no soaps, perfumes or surfactants, though. Read the label and confirm by shaking the bottle. If sudsy bubbles appear on the surface, it is unsafe to use. I would not boil plastic as it can easily melt and deform!
NOOOOOO!!! IT WILL KILL YOUR FISH
Try Washing With Hot Water.
NO!! Use vinegar, it won't hurt it.
Use boiling water instead.
well what i did was use dishwashing soap. NOT THE ONES FOR DISHWASHERS.
Just hot water will not do. You need to boil it, or even better, use a bleach solution and then boil it to get the bleach off. Soak it in bleach for about 30 seconds, then pour boiling water over the "siphon".

I recommend using a vinagar and water mixture or boiling water.
Make sure you dont melt the plastic with the hot water, however, and be sure to rinse off all of the vinagar
Hi kii
I would recommend using hot water and some vinegar, no chemicals, that way you know that it's all natural
Hope that helps and that your fish are doing good ;-)

Hi Kii, Just to add to what a couple of people have said about using vinegar-if possible go for the white 'pickling' type rather than the brown malt vinegar although any is ok.
Vinegar does not sterilize equipment if that is your main concern here although it is great for removing lime. Vinegar also has related issues with PH if not completely removed.
Bleach 1 cup to 4 in water doesn't even have to be hot and NOT boiled, this evaporates the water and condences the bleach. Rinse your siphone or clean it with the bleach water. When you are done, regular water with your dechlor/water conditioner rinse and you are good to go.
